ABOUT Elizabeth Arden
Est. in: USA, 1910
Elizabeth Arden (born Florence Nightingale Graham) revolutionized the American beauty industry, founding her brand in 1910 with the opening of the first Red Door salon on Fifth Avenue, New York. Her philosophy was that beauty should be a combination of science and nature, aiming to enhance a woman's natural beauty rather than masking it. She coined the concept of Total Beauty, which included skincare, nutrition, and fitness. Arden was an innovator, creating iconic products like the Eight Hour Cream and Blue Grass fragrance, and was the first to introduce eye makeup and the makeover in the U.S. She also pioneered the creation of travel-sized beauty products and was the first to send out a team of traveling saleswomen. By the 1930s, Arden had expanded globally, with Red Door salons in major fashion capitals. She was proud to say that her name, along with Coca-Cola and Singer Sewing Machines, was recognized worldwide. Elizabeth Arden’s entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to innovation still drive the brand today.
