Surrounded by art, culture, and perfumes from his childhood—his grandfather and mother worked at Christian Dior Perfumes — Malle views fragrances as luxury objects filled with emotions. His time in New York led him to develop a personal taste for architecture and contemporary art, which is reflected in the aesthetic of his perfume line, materialized in 2000 with Editions de Parfums. Frédéric Malle's perfumery champions authorial fragrances free from conventions and artistic values, aspects that are reflected in Portrait of a Lady, Musc Ravageur, French Lover, and Rose & Cuir.
