ABOUT Issey Miyake
Est. in: Japan, 1970
Known for its innovative approach to fashion design, the Issey Miyake brand takes its name from its founder, who created it in Japan in 1970. It quickly distinguished itself through experimentation with fabrics, leading to the iconic Pleats Please (1980), a type of permanent pleats in clothing, which in turn gave rise in 2012 to a fragrance. The brand's first perfume is perhaps its most emblematic, L'Eau d'Issey (1992), a feminine scent created in collaboration with perfumer Jacques Cavallier to reflect the purity of water, which in 1994 incorporated its masculine version. Issey Miyake's fragrance collection is distinguished by its minimalist approach, inspiration from nature, its simplicity and timelessness that conveys feelings of well-being and calm.
